EdSource believes that access to a quality education is an important right of all children. We further believe that an informed, involved public is necessary to strengthen California’s schools for the benefit of the state’s children as well as the civic and economic quality of life in California.
Mission
Independent and impartial, EdSource strives to advance the common good by developing and widely distributing trustworthy, useful information that clarifies complex K–12 education issues and promotes thoughtful decisions about California’s public school system.
Strategic Priorities 2006-07 to 2008-09
- Ensure continued high standards in our publications and other program areas for a) the impartiality and balance of our approach, b) the quality of the data and the sources, and c) the clarity of our communications.
- Extend our unique niche in school finance, and address other important and challenging public education issues facing California—including pre-K and post-secondary as they articulate with K–12.
- Undertake new initiatives—from participating on collaborative studies to exploring new communication strategies, and others—that meet our strategic decision-making criteria.
- Increase our efforts to inform state policymakers and education media, while continuing to serve our wide spectrum of K–12 stakeholders.
- Increase our emphasis on board, staff, organizational, and fund development in order to strengthen our capacity for greater impact.
