California Community College Students by Age Group and Ethnicity, Fall 2009

Altogether, almost 1.8 million students enrolled in California's community colleges in fall 2009. The pie chart below shows that nearly half the students are 25 years or older. Whites and Latinos each represent about a third of community college students. By contrast, the younger K-12 population is more than half Latino, likely portending an upcoming shift in the community college population as well.
