Lawmakers made significant changes to education mandates in 2010–11

January 2011

In the 2010–11 budget, policymakers appropriated $300 million to reimburse local K–14 education agencies for complying with state mandates, but that still leaves a backlog of more than $3 billion to pay. To reduce future mandate reimbursement costs, lawmakers eliminated, suspended, or modified several of the roughly 50 mandates that apply to schools.

The list of mandates is too long for display on this webpage. To view the table, download the PDF.
