California's English Learners 2008-09

June 2010


In 2008-09, 24.2% of California's students were classified as English learners. An additional 19.4% came from families in which English was not the primary language, but the students were initially classified or reclassified as fluent English proficient (FEP). The distribution of languages, found in EdSource's 2010 Resource Cards on California Education, is shown in the pie chart below.
