CSBA Student Issue Group session on African American Students:
Senior research associate Matthew Rosin provided opening context for a discussion of California efforts to raise the academic achievement of African American students. He presented data and findings from EdSource's 2008 report, Raising African American Student Achievement: California Goals, Local Outcomes. This report is available as a free download. For more information, please also see the related page in our Student Achievement issues section, which includes data on schools with especially high African American API scores in 2007 and interviews with principals at some of these schools.
One-Day Seminar on Charter School Issues for Members:
EdSource Senior Policy Analyst Brian Edwards and Eric Crane of WestEd, co-authors of EdSource's 2008 Charter School update, presented on the 2008 report, which looked at the academic performance of charter schools in California.
