Video - California's Commitment: Raising Academic Standards for All Students


image Here’s a concise, engaging way to explain California’s new education reforms to your constituents. This 15-minute EdSource video can set the stage for any school or community meeting about school improvement, assessments and accountability, budget priorities, or the importance of community involvement. It can also help schools meet new NCLB requirements for informing parents. Featuring a broad cross section of Californians, it’s a clear, impartial presentation that introduces the basics, including:
  • California’s K–12 academic standards and how high expectations for every California child are affecting teaching and learning;
  • How the state’s testing and accountability systems reinforce and support those expectations;
  • Issues and concerns, including budget worries.

Along with the video, you’ll get three moderator guides (English or Spanish) to help you prepare for any group you’re addressing, including elementary school parents, middle/high school parents, and community or business groups. Also included is a fourth moderator guide (English only) especially for use with school staffs.
