California's Student Data System: In Need of Improvement

This EdFact explains why a system that keeps track of individual student progress over time is important to the state. A longitudinal data system would enable accurate record keeping (including student mobility) and the evaluation of the effectiveness of various education programs. A crucial element in the
development of this data system is the protection of students’ privacy.
