2006-07 California State and Federal Education Money Earmarked for Special Purposes
October 2006
Statewide about one-third of the funds that schools receive in 2006-07 are from categorical programs designated to serve specific purposes. School agencies receive varying amounts depending on district characteristics, the programs they choose to operate, and the proportion of the state’s 6.3 million students that they serve. This table lists the major state and federal categorical programs for public education along with the money earmarked for each in the 2006-07 California state budget. It also compares the 2006-07 Budget Act with the 2005-06 Budget Act.
